The Classic Inca Trail

Our short Inca trail trek will start from sacred valley on a slightly different route before going along the Classic Inca Trail. You won’t be able to gaze all the glorious sites around as you are availing the shorter path but still, you’ll be able to see the Andean mountains through its real vibrant colors. Before reaching the majestic Machu Picchu we will witness the magnificent vibes of the beauty of Winay Wayna while hiking across the centuries-old Inca track, Andean highlands, and the infamous cloud forest.

In the brief period of 2-days, you’ll have the essence of the truest thrill of the Classic Inca Trail. The Andean mountain and the landscape from above will stun you and leave you in an awe. The short trek will let you dive into the history and beauty of Incan Civilization who has had made wonderful masterpieces like Machu Picchu.

Itinerary

Our 2-day short hiking trip to Machu Picchu via the Inca trail will give a promising experience to travelers and it will be an unforgettable experience to explore the Andes with brief hiking duration. We have intelligently designed our itinerary to make it short, effective and enjoyable.

Day 1:

The following will be the destinations for our first day.

  • Ollantaytambo
  • KM 104
  • Winaywayna
  • Sun Gate (Inti Punku)
  • Aguas Calientes

Day 2:

The second day will solely be dedicated to.

  • Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu hike via Short Inca Trail     

We will pick you from your hotel in Cusco or Sacred valley to head to Machu Picchu Citadel via the short Inca Trail. We will coordinate with you regarding the pick-up time as per your hotel’s location but we will leave early in the morning in our transportation. Our first destination will be the town of Ollantaytambo which is situated 60 kilometers away from Cusco city. We will catch the expedition train from the old Quechua town and it will take us to the starting point of our trek. KM-104 will be our starting point at Chachabamba in the Sacred Valley. KM-104 sits at an elevation of 2150 meters, 7050 feet from above sea level. This is the point from where we will start short trek along Inca Trail.

Before we arrive Inti Punku or the Sun Gate we have to trek 16 kilometers and these 16 kilometers will provide us with a rich opportunity to have breathtaking views of the exquisite Andean mountain and Andean landscape. We will start by walking over the other side of the Vilcanota River before starting the trek along the southern bank of the sacred river or Wilka Mayu River. The trek ascend begins as we are proceeding the trekking trail while passing through the native cloud forest of Peruvian Andes. After enduring the demanding trek of 3 hours we will arrive at a beautiful waterfall of the ancient ruins of Winay Wayna. We will have our lunch at the ruins of Winay Wayna and further explore the valley as possible as per our route.

We will continue our trek journey to the Sun Gate and hopefully, we will reach till late afternoon. This is the place where we will first take the view of the ruins of macho Picchu in the golden hour presenting the view of the ruins as a golden structure between the Andean Mountains. After enjoying the breathtaking view of ruins during the golden hour we will proceed towards the last destination of our day and that will be Aguas Calientes. This is the village that will host us for tonight’s stay. We will take care of hotel bookings and accommodation arrangements. After a tiresome and full of adventure day, we will have rest at the hotel.

The next morning we will leave early in the morning to start our guided tour to Machu Picchu. The Citadel of Machu Picchu opens at 06:00 AM and then tourists can avail guided tour. The citadel is situated at 2430 meters, 7970 feet above sea level. It is situated over the Urubamba valley. Citadel is the famous and most preserved historic site in Peru. In 1983 UNESCO declared the Citadel of Machu Picchu as UNESCO heritage site. In 2007 it got the title of one of the greatest most construction by man. Citadel contains a wonderful piece of architecture, towers, and beautiful terraces. Inca royalties used the Citadel for ceremonial purposes. We will be having enough time to explore this masterpiece as it is opened from 06:00 AM to 06:00 PM. The Peruvian government has limited the number of tourists to 2500 to keep the site preserved.
